The swimming and diving events were held at the McDonalds Swim Stadium
built on the campus of the University of Southern California, site of
the athletes' village. The Swim stadium represented one of the many
sports legacies that the Olympics left behind. Unlike the 1976 Olympic
Games held in Montreal, which crippled the city financially for years
to come, the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles actually left a surplus
that was used to fund a foundation that lives on and provides sporting
facilities for neighborhood youth. |
